UV Disinfection for the Food and Beverage Industry

The Food and Beverage Industry has a number of segments that stand to benefit from UV Disinfection. Earlier this week our EMEA team hosted a webinar walking through the science of how UV disinfection works and how it can be applied to the variety of different segments within the Food and Beverage Industry. Click on the video below to view the webinar.

“In the Food and Beverage Industry water is a key ingredient in the manufacturing and it is really important to maintain the quality of the water. Where chlorine impacts for example on the taste, look,  production process… UV is completely chemical free technology and does not impact the rest so it can be used for pure disinfection and to be honest the need of Ultraviolet UV, we split it into 3 main applications or solutions. Firstly, is the well known disinfection. The water disinfection, you can disinfect the potable water, the process water, even the cip rinse water, and also the sugar syrup… Secondly we will talk about how to use the UV for deozonation, so to reduce the ozone into the water. This is quite common into the process water where free ozone water is needed or into sanitisation. And last but not least is the dichlorination, which means removing the free chlorine in the water using ultraviolet light. That is quite common in the food and beverage industry by wanting to remove the free chlorine from the potable water coming into the production.”
